We have all heard the phrase “don’t drink and drive”. This slogan has been popular since the 1980s when drinking and driving first emerged as a social problem and source of public concern. The good news is that today, 81% of licensed drivers never drive after drinking.
However more than 30% of road deaths continue to be alcohol-related. So who are these drivers who haven’t got the message and continue to get behind the wheel after consuming alcohol? And how do we change the behaviour of those drivers who ignore the message, placing the public at risk?
